The VMA’s performances were basically Beyoncé and everyone else. While there were many other performances that seemed to leave a lasting impression, like the opening number featuring Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J, or Rita Ora and Iggy Azalea’s performance of “Black Widow“; it was all wiped clean when Beyoncé performed a medley of each song on her album.

Even her daughter, Blue, couldn’t help but dance along.

Beyoncé proved to everyone watching; she deserved the Video Vanguard Award that she accepted at the end of the show. Presenting her with the award, were none-other-than her husband and daughter, Jay Z and Blue Ivy. The touching moment actually brought the star to tears and just may have put all those insistent divorce rumors to rest.

Before Beyoncé stole the show, there were some other noteworthy performances. The show started out with Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J. The ladies made it clear that the night was clearly going to be a “pants optional” sort of evening. They each performed separately and then together, each looking and sounding great. Nicki Minaj had to actually hold her dress together the entire second half of the performance, but didn’t miss a beat even with the wardrobe malfunction.

If like me, you have been missing Usher lately, then I am sure you were happy to see him dancing and singing his heart out during his performance of  “She Came to Give It to You”. Usher was joined on stage by Nicki Minaj who seemed to be everywhere at the award show. Usher even played a little bit of guitar and had a few risque moments with Nicki during the show.

Taylor Swift sang “Shake It Off”. The performance was typical Taylor Swift, fun and upbeat. She even added a little humor to the performance by refusing to jump to the dancers waiting below. Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora joined forces for their duet “Black Widow”. They even wore matching black and sparkled bodysuits.

Which performance did you like best?
